Sophie Spil
Research Coordinator
Sophie Spil serves as the Research Coordinator at the Nuhanovic Foundation, where she supports the Foundation’s research and knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at advancing justice for victims of international crimes. Sophie is a criminologist and legal researcher with a strong focus on international criminal justice and the protection of victims’ rights. She holds a Master of Science in International Crimes, Conflict & Criminology and a Master of Laws in Migration and Refugee Law from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and is experienced in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of armed conflict, international criminal law, and security policy. At the Nuhanovic Foundation, Sophie coordinates the development, design, and implementation of research activities under the Foundation’s research pillar. She contributes to the development of methodological approaches, supports the creation of knowledge resources, and assists in the dissemination of research findings to inform legal practice and policy. Her work primarily focuses on research underpinning advocacy positions and strengthening victims’ rights.
