On 14 December 2023, Ismail Ziada announced the forthcoming filing of a case against The Netherlands before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) following a decision by the Dutch Supreme Court to extend immunity to Israeli military officials Benny Gantz and Amir Eshel. Ziada accuses the officials of war crimes for bombing the Ziada family home, killing six family members in 2014, and argues The Netherlands has denied his right to access to justice by refusing jurisdiction over the case on grounds
of immunity.
The Nuhanovic Foundation has supported Mr. Ziada in his quest for justice since 2017, when he first brought a civil suit before Dutch courts against Gantz and Eshel.
On 18 December 2023, an expert panel will explain the case that Ismail Ziada’s lawyers are now bringing on his behalf to the European Court of Human Rights. This event will be accessible online and in person. To know more and register, click here.
