This Resolution no 372 of December 2017 echoes the 2013 Peshawar High Court judgment, in recommending that the Pakistani government demand the U.S. to compensate the harm inflicted on the Pakistani people and their properties by U.S. drone bombings. It also stresses that the negative impact of those strikes on various levels of the victims’ lives, should receive detailed attention at the international level, including by the United Nations, the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). This Resolution’s significance lies in the fact that the Pakistani Senate, a state organ with legislative powers and a counterweight to the Government mandated to hold the latter to account and ensure its transparency, unanimously voted that the U.S. must remedy the harm caused by its actions.
